GetResponse Review [Things You Should Know Before Implement Email Marketing]
Today I’ll walk you through the journey of uncovering GetResponse which I have been using since 2 years ago. I’m going to share my own experiences on using GetResponse.
After using it for my online businesses for quite some time, I’ve decided to show you the inside out about GetResponse.
What Is GetResponse?
It is both an automated email database management system and email marketing system. It helps business owners, entrepreneurs and marketers alike to build and maintain their most important asset – the email list.
GetResponse helps you to store all the emails of your customers and subscribers and let you send them email in batch – real time saver.
It gives you the option to send your email either as Autoresponder or Newsletter.
- Autoresponder – A series of email contents you’ve set in advance that goes out to your subscribers automatically after they have opted-in to your email database. This is great to warm up your leads.
- Newsletter – A one-time email broadcast to your existing subscribers. This is normally used to send the latest news or latest offers.
You have the benefits to segment your subscribers into different categories so that you can structure email contents based on their needs.
There is also analytics data given. This helps you to know how well is your email performing – such as open rate, click rate and subscription rate.
Stability
This is the top most thing I think worth mentioning before anything else. After all, you should only use reliable platform for your business.
Throughout the days of using GetResponse, I don’t recalled any experience of downtime in the platform. I have no problem accessing my email database anytime I want to.
The subscribers and all the campaign lists with opt-in forms I’ve created when I just started to use the platform since more than 2 years back still safely intact until today.
Using a stable platform to build and manage your email list is important because you want your asset to be safe and secured all times.
Stability is also important so that anyone can subscribe to your mailing list anytime without having problem or error.
User Friendliness
Using platform that not user friendly is dreaded experience. It takes much time to understand and causes difficulty in using it.
I like the user friendliness inside the Getresponse platform.
It has a clean user interface that is easy to navigate and use. It takes little time to master how the functions inside the platform works.
This allows me to use GetResponse to the fullest potentials possible of what it has to offer.
Supported By 3rd Party Platforms
At some point of time, you definitely needs to integrate your other online platforms with your email marketing system.
So it is important that you use an email marketing system that is supported by 3rd party platforms.
GetResponse is one of the major email marketing system providers having the ease of integration with other online platforms.
It can be easily integrated with a few clicks of a button by using GetResponse API available inside the platform.
Deliverability Rate
What is deliverability rate? It is how successful the email sent reaching the recipients inbox – Not ending in spam folder.
I like to take one step deeper to look at this. The reason so because most recipients are using Gmail nowadays compared to other email providers.
One important to note is Gmail inbox has different tabs such as Primary Inbox, Promotions Inbox and Social Inbox.
The only tab that has highest visibility is the Primary Inbox. So I love to have the email I sent out would end up in Primary Inbox tab of my recipients most of the time.
From my own experience, I would say that GetResponse has good deliverability rate and still can reach Primary Inbox of Gmail most of the time.
This is possible when choosing the words carefully for my emails. I avoid using those spammy or overused words such as “FREE”, “ORDER TODAY”, “URGENT” among others as much as possible.
Customer Support
Using email marketing system that has good customer service is important so that you can have the problem solved or the question answered quickly.
One good thing GetResponse has done is provide live chat support. The best part it is available 24 x 7.
This shows that they’re serious in providing good customer service to their users.
As a user point of view, I like this kind of support. Because it allows my questions answered in real-time.
From my experience dealing with Getresponse customer support via their live chat, usually I get connected within few seconds.
Of course, sometimes it took slightly longer but not too many times I’ve experienced this so far.
Mobile Responsiveness
Having a mobile responsive website is important in today’s world because the extensive usage of mobile devices to go online.
Mobile responsive means when a website opened with mobile devices, the layout and display would change automatically to fit nicely according to device screen size.
One thing I dislike GetResponse is in its subscription/opt-in forms. All the forms provided inside the platform is not mobile responsive.
Although my website is mobile responsive, but due to subscription form is not mobile responsive, it looks a bit out of proportion in mobile devices.
I have checked with Getresponse’s customer support on this issue. They confirmed that their subscription form is not mobile responsive yet at the moment [as of the date of writing this]. They mentioned they’re currently working towards making the forms mobile responsive (however no specific time given when this would be completed).
With this limitation, I’m using external 3rd party subscription form provider to integrate with my Getresponse so I can have mobile responsive form.
Pricing
Great thing comes with a price. How much is GetResponse? The current price [as the time of writing] is $15/month for the most basic package.
This package allows you to have up 1000 subscribers in the database.
From what I have researched so far, among the top email marketing system providers, GetResponse has the cheapest startup rate in the market.
To be honest, apart from the great benefits mentioned above, pricing is the defining factor why I choose GetResponse.
Conclusion
Overall rating I would give GetResponse is 4.5 out of 5.
This is because its subscription form is not yet mobile responsive and it’s a drawback.
But, I have no regret using GetResponse as an email marketing system in my business taking in consideration the other benefits I’m reaping and the reasonable price I’m paying for.
If you are new to GetResponse, I have good news for you.
GetResponse is offering a free 30 days trial for new users to try out its platform. The trial includes full functionality.
After free 30 days passed, if you like it, you can continue using it by paying a reasonable price. Else, you can cancel and you pay nothing. No risk, no obligations, no strings attached on your part.
