Entrepreneurship Has Changed My Life
Entrepreneurship was a dream that I had since I was 18 years old. But somehow it’s not something that seems to be achievable at that point of time. It’s more like a distant star above the sky out of reach. So I just keep the dream deep inside of my heart.
I was born into a traditional family of not financially well off. Since young, I was trained by my family that in order to succeed in life, I must gets a good degree course, study hard, gets a good grade and then gets a good job.
This has led me to take up engineering course in my university days. Frankly speaking, I was not in fond of the course. But in order not to disappoint my family, I did my best in my studies.
After 4 years of struggling in the degree course, I finally successfully graduated from university. And the results I have was consider good to many people. I scored 3.68 out of total 4.00 in my CGPA which landed me with a “first class” degree.
Soon I landed myself with a job in corporate world. Being a responsible employee, I did my very best in my work. Although I hoped can live and work peacefully, but things went the opposite side. I kept on have to endure a lot of unpleasant things in the workplace.
The entrepreneurship dream inside of me grew stronger each day since then. It made me believe that by becoming an entrepreneur, only then I’m able to take charge of my own future without having to live under the mercy of other people anymore.
So I went on to try my hands on various part-time businesses. But with no proper knowledge and guidance in business, needless to say, nothing work out for me and I failed completely. I had 0 sales, 0 customer. What a big failure!
With no success in business, I still kept myself employed for a few years more. After having roughly 4 to 5 years in employment for a few different companies, the unpleasant experiences in workplace just gotten from bad to worse.
I was so distressed from the inside out. It was the entrepreneurship dream I had that kept me moving forward in the midst of facing work and life challenges all the while.
Despite the previous failure of becoming entrepreneur, deep inside of my heart I still believe one day I able to make it because the failure was only temporary.
I then finally called it a quit from the employment world.
The Turning Point
At the age of 29, with no job left, I got really serious of making into the world of entrepreneurship. I made the decision to acquire the entrepreneurship skill set. Therefore, I move on to learn from various successful entrepreneurs through their books, training and blogs.
Because I knew that through the information, I was able to turn them into knowledge. Only with knowledge, it’s possible to have the wisdom. That’s why we always heard that knowledge is power.
It was the wisdom which allowed me to know how to do certain things and make the right decision in my entrepreneurship journey since then.
After that, I started to see results in my business and I finally succeeded in turning my entrepreneurship dream into reality.
On my 2nd year into entrepreneurship, my mum was diagnosed with stage 3 cancer.
At the time of diagnosis, my mum was already in advanced stage. So the treatment needed was extensive. It involved an operation to remove the tumor, followed by 6 times chemotherapy and 15 times radiotherapy sessions. There was a need to visit the hospital frequently.
The Blessing Of Entrepreneurship
Because of entrepreneurship, I have the time freedom and with online business, I have the extra advantage which is the location freedom. This allows me to move back to my hometown for taking care my mum and bringing her to hospital for cancer treatment.
Entrepreneurship has literally changed my life. It allows me to take charge of my own life and gives me the freedom to spend time with my family.
One important thing for an entrepreneur is never stop learning.
I started my first online business from nothing, without inventory upfront and without expensive monthly recurring fees platform.
